THE ROLE: Communications Manager
Britebound is a national non-profit with a mission to support middle and high school learners to explore their interests, experience potential careers, and navigate a path to a meaningful and rewarding future. We fulfill our mission through free digital-first experiences, grantmaking, policy advocacy, research, and impact investing.
We believe that exploring career possibilities, as early as middle school, and providing access to education-to-career pathways aligned with one’s passions and goals will result in greater confidence and long-term success for all students.
We are looking for a Communications Manager to be a partner within our multi-disciplinary Impact Hubs and support the Managing Directors in getting the work seen, understood, and acted on. In a mission-driven organization like Britebound, communications is not a service the hub calls on once the work is finished. It is part of the work from the start. When communications is in the loop early, the hub's research, partnerships, and milestones travel further, reach the audiences who can act on them, and free the hub's team to stay focused on its mission.
The Communications Manager is the connective tissue between the hub's work and the field it is trying to move. This role owns how the Impact Hub tells its story across the year, so that individual posts, emails, and events are elements of strategic campaigns and plans, and so the hub's external voice sounds unmistakably like Britebound and reinforces everything else coming out of the organization.
What You’ll Do:
Communications Strategy & Planning
Owns the hub's annual communications strategy, so that individual posts, emails, and events ladder up to a coherent story rather than one-off activity.
Builds a dissemination plan for every release, partnership, and milestone that maps the work to the right channels, partners, media, and field audiences, and ensures staff hear it first.
Brings communications into hub planning early, so announcements, events, and partnerships are structured to travel and the hub gets more from each one.
Manages the hub's communications on the shared editorial calendar in Asana, so the team can see what is planned, track progress, and know nothing is falling through the cracks.
Message, Voice & Storytelling
Stewards the hub's language and framing, so its external communications stay on-message, organizationally aligned, and recognizably Britebound.
Translates the hub's research and programmatic work into accessible content for partners, media, and the field.
Elevates grantee and partner stories through audience-specific storytelling that makes the hub's impact concrete.
Collaborates with hub-aligned subject matter experts so that all external communications maintain accuracy and effectively speak to other experts in the field.
Channels, Email & Creative Coordination
Runs mass external email through Marketing Cloud and Salesforce, with a proper opt-out, so the hub reaches the right audiences, can measure what worked, and stays compliant.
Serves as the single point connecting the hub to the creative team, bringing design and messaging together so materials come back polished and coordinated.
Owns the hub's presence across its owned channels and uses performance data to refine the approach over time.
Executive Thought Leadership
Partners with hub executives on their thought leadership, shaping the strategy behind their public presence and editing alongside them so their LinkedIn and public voice stay sharp, current, and connected to where Britebound is going.
Strategic Value to the Organization:
Communications determines whether the Impact Hub's work reaches the people who can act on it. This role does not simply publish the hub's news. It decides how the work is framed, when it is released, and through which channels, so that every announcement, event, and partnership earns the visibility it deserves and assists in reaching not only communications goals but overall hub and organizational ones.
By owning communications as a planned, year-round discipline rather than a series of last-minute requests, the Communications Manager keeps the hub's team on mission while its work still shows up in the world with precision and prominence. Consistent, on-message communications from the hub also strengthen the wider Britebound narrative, keeping the organization's voice pulling in one direction.
Ultimately, the role turns the hub's work into influence in the field. It is what separates a hub that does good work from one that moves the people and systems shaping the paths of the young people Britebound serves.
