The Communication Specialist works on a wide range of communication projects that require creativity, strategic insight and strong organizational skills. Your duties will include writing, editing, creating social media and web content, generating promotional materials and project management, ensuring internal and external communications align with university's brand and tracking and communicating the status of projects.
Additional responsibilities will include: Purdue Extension: Serves as main Agricultural Communications contact with Extension leadership team and other staff members Working under general supervision to develop and implement key communication strategies to advance Extension's reputation and goals Creating web and social media content; drafting news releases; writing and producing regular communications Working with graphic designers, writers, web designer and photographer to produce and serve as editor of the annual Extension impact report in printed and online format Providing writing and communications support for other marketing, promotional, educational and event materials as assigned by assistant department head May produce and analyze data reports to measure success
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a liberal arts discipline that was supplemented with relevant coursework 2 years of professional experience and previous experience balancing multiple projects and working with creative teams (Substantive internship experience may be considered in place of required professional experience) Experience creating and posting content using web content management systems and social media platforms Marketing/promotional writing experience Strong oral and written skills (portfolio/samples of work)
Nice to Have: Basic experience in using Adobe InDesign and other Adobe Creative Suite programs Previous experience in data reporting and analysis to determine communication success
