Primary Purpose and General Duties: 

Human Support Services, a non-profit community mental health agency located in Monroe County seeks a full-time Community Career Coordinator.

The Community Career Coordinator will assist individuals with disabilities within the HSS’s Community Day Services program in Monroe County, helping existing and potential clients develop prevocational discovery skills on-site. This is done through educational classes, PAES Lab training, community exploration, and on-the-job situational assessments.

The Community Career Coordinator will attend all HSS & Dignity in Pay grant required trainings. They will also be provided the training to become DSP & ACRE certified.

This position professionally represents HSS and the people supported to school districts, employers, business owners and the community at large. Strong communication skills are necessary. Continued awareness of general employment needs in community jobs, include health and safety standards.


Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in a marketing/media, public relations, social work, public health, behavioral sciences or related field; or equivalent professional experience with community engagement
  • Experience in human service delivery as it relates to youth, families, people with I/DD, and community collaboration
  • Proven written and oral communication, dynamic public speaking, and social media skills
  • Efficiency in community team building and developing and maintaining partnerships
  • Proven ability to carry out job duties in a professional manner, with a positive outlook and approach.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities in areas of community integrated competitive and/or customized employment.
  • Familiarity with Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair, Perry & Washington counties businesses and community resources.

Physical Requirements:

Maintain a proper license at all times and ability to operate Agency vehicles. Have normal or corrective appliances that make normal hearing and eyesight, as well as clarity of speech in order to be understood. Be able to lift at least 50 pounds, have the strength and agility to climb at least two flights of stairs, and the flexibility to work in multi-facet environments.


Salary Description

$18.25 per hour
