Community Development Officer

About the Role

We're looking for an outgoing, relationship-driven professional who enjoys connecting with people, building partnerships, and identifying opportunities to help individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals. As a Community Development Officer, you'll serve as a key ambassador for Southland Credit Union by developing community partnerships, expanding Select Employee Groups (SEGs), generating business opportunities, and increasing membership throughout our service areas. What You'll Be Doing

• Develop and grow relationships with businesses, community organizations, and Select Employee Groups (SEGs)
• Generate new membership, lending, and deposit opportunities through networking and referral partnerships
• Represent the credit union at community events, employer visits, financial wellness workshops, and outreach activities
• Develop strategic partnerships that increase brand awareness and support growth initiatives
• Partner with branch teams and internal departments to create an exceptional member experience
• Track business development activities and identify opportunities for continued growth

What You'll Bring

• Two or more years of experience in business development, outside sales, relationship management, banking, credit unions, or financial services
• Strong networking, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to develop new business opportunities while maintaining existing partnerships
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Communications, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to travel locally for meetings, community events, and business development activities

Schedule & Travel

• Local travel of up to approximately 70% is required based on business needs, community events, networking opportunities, and partner visits. The primary territory includes areas surrounding our locations in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and Downey.
• Work hours vary based on scheduled events and business needs. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required to support community outreach, networking events, and organizational initiatives.
