Position Specific Summary
The Community Enrichment Coordinator at the City of Tucson’s Community Safety, Health & Wellness program, within the City Manager’s Office, is responsible for leveraging resources and opportunities to enhance community safety, build neighbor-to-neighbor networks, and amplify existing community assets. This position plays a key role in identifying and mobilizing resources to support a shared vision for a thriving and connected community.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Violence Prevention and Intervention Manager. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates and supports community partners, city departments, and other direct service teams to advance the vision for short, medium, and long-term change identified by and for community members. Participates in inter-departmental, neighborhood, public, and team meetings at various locations to promote community safety in priority areas and build stronger neighborhood networks.
Coordinates community-based work with support from the community partners and city departments. Engages in direct community networking through a range of methods including canvassing, promoting, and hosting community events, trainings and cultural celebrations. Connects with existing organizations, networks, and community members via phone calls, text messages, and social media to strengthen program engagement. Maintains on-going communication with community partners and residents, keeping them informed of program activities and developments, providing timely responses to inquiries.
Participates in the City of Tucson’s Violence Interruption and Vitalization (VIVA) efforts and the Safe City Initiative by providing mediation, service navigation, and mentoring support to interrupt neighbor-to-neighbor disputes, interfamily conflicts, issues concerning disenfranchised youth, and high rates of crime.
Facilitates community training, strategic planning and visioning sessions to share community goals at various locations. Participates in training opportunities and contributes to continuous quality improvement.
Assists community members in accessing city resources and services, helping them leverage their collective voice and functions as an advocate, when needed.
Tracks community engagement data and documents outcomes and impact of activities, including resident participation in program activities, outreach efforts, and annual impact surveys.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
May be required to work evenings and weekends for community meetings and events.
May be required to climb stairs and walk through neighborhoods or communities that experience high rates of poverty or crime.
