Community Events Assistant

Odyssey Charter School is the first charter school to utilize the blended learning model in Las Vegas and the 2nd established charter school in the state of Nevada. We are a public school that is sponsored by the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA). Our mix of online and in-class instruction, backed by an incredible staff, creates a K-12 educational journey that is effective and flexible enough to give kids with wide-ranging needs the foundation for success.

We are currently recruiting a full-time, Community Events Assistant. This is a 12-month per year support staff position. 

This position will work under the direction of the Community Events Manager and assist with the strategic preparation and execution of a comprehensive campus activities and events program. Some of the tasks and responsibilities of this position include assisting with planning, organizing, and facilitating special events. The assistant will also provide support in promoting special events and activities through various outlets, including social media. The assistant aids in the production of publications, materials, and programs for events. The assistant will also provide support by communicating with vendors, managing documentation, and maintaining accurate records of all details of the events. 

Qualified candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience with basic event planning, public relations, and marketing practices is preferred. 

Qualified candidates must also demonstrate the following:  

• Excellent professional written and verbal communication. 


• Advanced applications of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and platforms such as Canva, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, EventBrite, Later.com, Moodle, and Infinite Campus.


• Ability to maintain and manage a variety of types of information related to past, current and future events. They must be extremely detail-oriented.


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously with appropriate direction.


• It is critically important that the candidate has exemplary attendance and punctuality and has the flexibility to support the department during events that take place during various times of the day, including evenings and occasional weekends. 


• The physical demands of this position require that the candidate be able to regularly lift, carry, push, or move objects of 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Candidates must also be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.


• Must have a personal vehicle and be willing to use it to run errands and transport event supplies to and from events. Mileage shall be reimbursed according to the IRS reimbursement rate. 

Odyssey Charter School maintains a competitive salary scale. The pay range for this position is $19.96 to $28.08 per hour. Our health insurance plan is aligned with the Clark County School District and we participate in the Nevada Public Employees Retirement System.
