Community Liaison

Our Tent Family Enrichment Center is looking for a warm, energetic, and community minded person to help families feel welcome, connected, and heard. This role combines community outreach and partnership building with the day-to-day work of creating a welcoming center and developing programs alongside local families.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome families and community members to the FEC and encourage them to take part in its programs and activities


• Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, leaders, public institutions, and local coalitions


• Represent the FEC at community events and share its offerings with parents and caregivers, including those who may feel isolated or have less access to support


• Listen to families’ interests and work with them to design and deliver meaningful programs and monthly events


• Bring together and support a team of local parents who help shape FEC activities. Training will be provided


• Help families connect with local resources, services, and practical supports, including referrals when appropriate


• Create calendars, website content, guides, toolkits, and other materials that help families learn about and access the FEC

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years of professional experience; OR a high school diploma AND five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven-programs working directly with children, youth and families 


• Minimum knowledge of, lived experience in, and commitment to the FEC community


• Experience caring for children as a parent, guardian, relative, neighbor, or babysitter


• Outstanding interpersonal skills

We are looking for someone who sees the strengths in every family, enjoys bringing people together, and wants to help create a space shaped by the community it serves. This part-time position is 17½ hours per week and may lead to a full-time opportunity. The position is based in Brooklyn and requires flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends, as needed.

Salary: $28.00 per hour
