Job Description:

The Community Outreach team at the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) serves as part of the Executive division and helps workers, businesses, and neighborhood stakeholders access the full suite of SBS services by building awareness and programmatic pipelines directly in communities with the most need.

The team seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented candidate to help raise awareness of SBS services on the ground across communities through direct tabling, canvassing, in-person and virtual presentations, as well as the management of external outreach partners. This role will oversee the management of outreach programs with contracted partners, as well as build and maintain relationships with other strategic community partners.

The role will work closely with external partners, and the Agency’s internal Intergovernmental, Communications, Procurement, Facilities, and Programmatic Divisions to ensure consistent and strategic public engagement through high quality community-based events, partnerships, and management.

The role could include the following:
- Help plan and coordinate outreach events to meet strategic objectives including tabling, door-to-door outreach, and in-person and virtual presentations
- Assist in on-the-ground outreach to small businesses and job seekers across the city
- Work on informing stakeholders on SBS services and resources, including through public presentations
- Represent SBS at events
- Assist in researching strategic community partnerships and coordinate with them to outreach opportunities
- Work collaboratively with SBS Divisions (Business Services, Workforce Development, Neighborhood Development, Economic and Financial Opportunity, and Industry Partnerships) as well as the Intergovernmental Affairs, Communications, and Emergency Response units
- Collect and input outreach data for tracking and reporting
- Operate dynamically to assess urgent needs on a timely basis

Additional Information
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37. However, note that per this program, employees may be required to report to the workplace in person if operational needs warrant.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
