Job Description - Community Outreach Coordinator

Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator


Department: Advancement


Job Type: Full-Time, Year Round Employment


Reports To: Director of Advancement


Work Schedule: Flexible schedule - 40 hours per week from August to May, and reduced summer schedule June/ July. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.



POSITION OBJECTIVE:  The main goal of the position is to create and maintain positive connections between GCA and the local community (city, county, state).



QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS:  The employee is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education. They are dedicated to the mission of Christian education and are fully aligned with GCA’s Statement of Faith and Employee Covenant. Please review our Statement of Faith Agreement.  



EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Five years of relevant experience (community outreach, event planning, volunteer management)

  • Experience in a private school or church setting is highly desirable



ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Builds strong relationships with diverse stakeholders through clear communication, high-level interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity

  • Plans, promotes, and executes school and community events while managing logistics and engaging participation

  • Effectively balances multiple responsibilities with excellent time management, punctuality, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to make decisions independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient with digital tools and outreach platforms; maintains accurate records, meets deadlines, and is known for dependability and a strong memory



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintain strong ties within the GCA community (students, parents, staff)

  • Develop and maintain new relationships with community partners & sponsors

  • Develop and maintain new donor relationships

  • Maintain current relationships with community partners & sponsors

  • Maintain relationships with current donors

  • Develop and maintain new relationships with GCA alumni and parents

  • Pursue internship opportunities for GCA juniors and seniors with local businesses

  • Pursue service opportunities for groups of GCA students

  • Improve GCA’s visibility and impact on the community

  • Serve as a new family tour guide backup when needed during high admissions season

  • Assist the Director of Advancement with gatekeeping, approval, and managing GCA merchandise & sales

  • Assist the Director of Advancement with major fundraisers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods while working on a computer and move supplies (up to 35 lbs)

  • Assist children as needed for health and safety

  • Indoor office setting with potential exposure to temperature changes, noise, and exterior windows when meeting offsite
