The Community Programs Coordinator oversees the implementation of the Food for Kids and Food for Seniors programs through in-person, virtual, and pre-recorded formats, while also managing resource development, comprehensive training, and partner compliance. A key responsibility is providing guidance to school and pantry partners, including onboarding and capacity-building efforts. This role also involves engaging local coalitions and public figures who may be interested in collaboration or supporting program initiatives.

The Community Programs Coordinator will be comfortable learning new technology as well as an eagerness to utilize Arkansas Foodbank software systems. They will possess strong interpersonal skills, a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, and a commitment to hunger relief. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The statements contained herein describe the scope of the responsibility and essential functions of this position but should not be considered to be an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.  Individuals may perform other duties as assigned including work in other areas to cover absences or to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload.  Individuals in this position may occasionally work irregular hours as necessary.

1. Collaborate across teams to implement and support new strategies, programs, and initiatives.

2. Research external resources to support all Food for Kids and Food for Seniors partners, while maintaining detailed recordkeeping and auditing processes to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

3. Collaborate across teams to implement and support new strategies, programs, and initiatives.

4. Requires a comprehensive understanding of health initiative program incentives.

5. Responsible for understanding grant funding agreements, grant documentation, and onsite reviews

6. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Food for Kids and Food for Seniors programs, as well as USDA/CSFP rules, regulations, and guidelines.

7. Recruit, train, educate and onboard new pantries.

8. Provide guidance on incorporating healthy options into meals.

9. Strengthen initiatives that enhance access to fresh and nutritious foods by collaborating with stakeholders to promote positive eating habits through education, resources, and incentives.

10. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining an active Serve Safe certification.

11. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled monitoring visits to schools and pantries.

12. Work a half-day, one Saturday each month to assist with Senior Box distribution.

13. Analyze and interpret demographic and geographical data of areas to be served.

14. Work with internal and external stakeholders to increase school and pantry capacity.

15. Manage and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines.

16. Schedule educational meetings, and develop cohorts.

17. Assists with social media content to enhance awareness.

Requirements

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Chief Executive Officer.  The following qualifications are preferred for the candidate or employee:

The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) preferably in Public Service, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food System Management, or a related field preferred. 

  1. Minimum two (2) years of experience in public service, human services, non-profit management or community development-related experience 

OR 

  1. Associate degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) preferably in Business or a related field.
  2. Four (4) years of experience in public service, human services, non-profit management or community development-related experience 
  • Experience in a non-profit organization is preferred. 
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
  • Willing and able to travel in-state 75% of the time is required.
  • Must pass a background check and preemployment drug screening.

This position operates in a community and a professional office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, cold and/or humid conditions.  This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other office machines. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift/move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently required to operate vehicles.
