Job Description - Community Relations & Events Manager

Who We Are
Empowered Services is a one-on-one Attendant Care agency supporting individuals in the
Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) community across Oregon. We inspire and support
the unique individuals and families we serve, empowering them to participate in their communities
and live their best lives.

Our core values drive everything we do: Integrity, Empathy, Synergy, Community, Advocacy,
and Legacy.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Community Relations & Events Manager to be a key public representative of
Empowered Services within Oregon’s IDD community. You’ll build the relationships, visibility, and
trust that connect compassionate team members with Empowered Services and help IDD families
find the support they need.

This role supports two pipelines: attracting Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and other team
members and growing customer awareness (families, brokerages, referral partners). You’ll plan
events, develop community partnerships, help lead brand and outreach strategy, and serve as our
primary community liaison. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

This role leads community outreach strategy and relationship-building efforts while partnering with
internal support staff who assist with content, design, communications, and digital execution.

What You’ll Do
Build Community Relationships
• Develop partnerships with advocacy groups, schools, workforce agencies, brokerages, CDDP
case managers, and IDD organizations
• Represent Empowered Services at community meetings, networking events, and partner
functions
• Build and maintain referral relationships that drive customer growth
• Join the CEO for presentations to brokerages, CDDP offices, and community partners

Plan & Lead Events
• Plan and execute hiring events, job fairs, and community recruitment campaigns
• Organize hosted events for IDD individuals, families, and Empowered Services team
members (seasonal celebrations, community activities like bowling and library outings)
• Manage event logistics, budgets, promotion, and outcomes tracking

• Partner with our hiring and care teams to ensure events generate both qualified candidates
and customer connections
• Organize internal team events and recognition activities that reinforce culture and connection
• Attend Meet and Greet sessions to support service initiation and relationship continuity

Drive Brand & Awareness
• Provide strategic direction for social media and online presence, in partnership with support
staff who handle day-to-day execution
• Guide the monthly newsletter and coordinate community talks, speaking opportunities, and
selected outreach content such as the Empowered podcast
• Partner with internal support resources on outreach materials, website updates, and
community-facing content
• Coordinate photos, testimonials, impact stories, and onboarding brand materials with
appropriate consent and privacy protections

Grow the Customer Pipeline
• Generate and nurture customer leads through outreach and relationship-building
• Hand off referrals to our Intake team for follow-up and conversion
• Track referral sources, outreach outcomes, and community engagement trends

Compliance & Confidentiality
This role may involve access to sensitive provider and customer information in the course of event
coordination and outreach. You’ll be expected to maintain strict confidentiality and help ensure
public-facing materials meet applicable employment and regulatory requirements.

What Success Looks Like
• Strong referral relationships across your region
• Well-run events that generate candidate and customer interest
• Consistent community visibility and outreach follow-through
• Qualified candidate and customer leads are regularly handed off to the right internal teams

What You Bring
• A genuine heart for people and a passion for serving the IDD community
• Experience in community relations, marketing, event coordination, or referral development
• Strong communication skills — comfortable representing the agency in public
• Creative thinker with experience in content strategy and social media direction
• Highly organized — can manage multiple events and projects at once
• Comfortable building relationships across diverse communities and organizations
• Proficient with Google/Windows platforms; Canva or similar design tools preferred
• Access to reliable transportation for regular local and regional travel to events, partner
meetings, and community outreach
• Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred but not required
• Must be cleared through Oregon’s Background Check Unit (BCU)
• Knowledge of the I/DD community preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate: $29.00+
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• PTO and performance bonus
• 401K with 3% employer match
• Occasional evening/weekend events — all hours compensated

Why Empowered Services?
If you’re passionate about community building, creative outreach, and making a meaningful impact in
the IDD community, this is your role. You’ll help connect our mission with the communities we serve
by building the relationships, visibility, and trust that support both family outreach and workforce
growth.
