The Community School Coordinator (CSC) will create a high-quality Community School that promotes racial and social justice, elevates youth and family voice, and enhances the ability of young people and families to thrive. Ultimately, the CSC helps the school community to meet its goals by building positive relationships, leading with data, and providing effective systems coordination. The CSC will report directly to the BACR Community School Manager, and work in partnership with the school principal and the WCCUSD office of Family and Community Engagement.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $68,000-$72,000 (DOE)
  • Approximately 7 weeks off per year (including holidays)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in program administration or community development in a human services setting
  • Experience with program planning and implementation
  • Proven experience working with public school systems and community partnerships
  • Ability to conduct data analysis and program evaluation

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related field, and three years of experience (experience may substitute education)
  • Experience working with low-income communities
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish

Responsibilities

Management and Administration

  • Co-create high-functioning systems that ensure healthy and safe schools.
  • Facilitate an effective CARE team to ensure equitable access to Tier 2 and 3 targeted interventions, including managing referrals, progress monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Lead an Action Collaborative, consisting of key stakeholders (students, parents, caregivers, administrators, teachers, and staff), to conduct on-going needs and assets assessment, develop an implementation plan, monitor progress, and share out the work with the broader school community.
  • Support the integration of services and school priorities through participation in the School Site Council, ILT, Culture Climate team, and attendance team as appropriate.
  • Manage budgets allocated to community programs and initiatives, ensuring responsible allocation of funds.
  • As a lead strategist, collect and analyze student performance, program outcomes, and community engagement data, to assess effectiveness and make adjustments for continuous improvement (Plan, Do, Study, Act cycle)
  • Co-create and ensure alignment of school priorities, SPSA plan, and Community School Implementation Plan.
  • Responsible for meeting agency, district, city, and state reporting requirements.

Engagement and Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, caregivers, administrators, teachers, staff, community leaders, and local organizations.
  • Conduct community asset mapping to identify resources to meet the gaps and hopes uncovered in the needs and assets assessment
  • Establish and oversee partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and local government agencies to ensure shared accountability, effectiveness, and alignment with school goals.
  • Organize events that engage students and families in the school’s priorities and goals.
  • Create/ support a student leadership group that elevates student voice and decision-making in the school’s systems and programs.

Advocacy

  • Serve as an advocate for the needs and interests of the school’s staff, students, and their families in the broader community.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts that promote educational equity and social justice.

Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.
