General Description The role of Community School Coordinator at Boynton and Del Mar High Schools is a dynamic and pivotal position focused on executing the transformation of these institutions into full-service community schools. As the key facilitator, the Coordinator collaborates closely with school leadership, students, and the Community of Schools Steering Committee to assess and address the diverse needs and assets of the school community. Anchored in the six pillars of the Community Schools model – Strong, Relevant Curriculum; High-Quality Teaching; Inclusive Leadership; Positive Behavior Practices; Family and Community Partnerships; and Community Support Services – the Coordinator ensures the e?cient coordination of student and family support services. This strategic position contributes signi?cantly to the creation of a thriving learning environment that emphasizes both academic achievement and holistic student wellness. Reporting directly to the School Site Principals, the Community School Coordinator serves as a vital link, fostering collaboration between the schools and community partners to drive the successful implementation of this transformative initiative.
Primary Responsibilities To secure the Community Schools Implementation Grant Seek input on needs and address barriers by establishing strong, productive, and trusting relationships with the administrative team, school personnel, partnership organizations, students, and community to seek input on needs and address barriers to learning and social-emotional needs/services. Conduct a needs assessment at Boynton and Del Mar High Schools; review and update the needs assessment as needed or at a minimum on an annual basis. Identify and organize existing services on campus and facilitate a needs assessment and logic model at each site. Facilitate awareness of needs and trends within the community Assist in developing infrastructures for the smooth delivery of holistic services to students, parents, and community members and the delivery of more health education information to students and families Develop strong relationships with teachers, families, and students and act as the liaison between school administration, educational partners, sta?, students, and community in building and maintaining positive relationships that support student learning and emotional wellness. This includes home visits with families, collaborating with local agencies, participating in community meetings, etc. Be familiar with all contracted partner Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and oversee the successful implementation of services; annually review and use needs assessment data to inform decisions about the continuation or modi?cation of partnerships Lead the writing of grants and develop other resources to increase and sustain program services as well as meeting grant deliverable timelines Review and monitor grant plans on a quarterly basis analyzing data, impact, and providing recommendations on partnership expansion and also partnership adjustment and/or termination. Build alliances and identify resources among local community groups and agencies Lead the submission of the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) implementation grant and submit required paperwork on time. Build on community strengths and embrace diversity, inclusion, and equity. Quali?cations
A valid California teaching credential or Pupil Personnel Services credential Excellent networking, communication, and interpersonal skills Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred) Knowledge of:
How a community school framework supports positive student experiences and improved academic outcomes such as closing of opportunity gaps for historically underserved communities as identi?ed in state and local accountability reports (e.g., California Schools Dashboard, Local Control and Accountability Plan, School Plan for Student Achievement). How a community school framework interacts with a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) Needs and assets of diverse communities that represent various racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups. Ability to:
Partner meaningfully with diverse educational partners, including but not limited to activities such as facilitating committees, leading training, and collaboratively developing plans.
