Scope of Position
The Comprehensive Cancer Center, Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute is committed to providing the community/region it serves with high quality services in cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Pharmacy Services plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and evidence-based medication management for oncology patients across the care continuum, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, investigational agents, controlled substances, and gene therapies.
This position provides advanced regulatory, accreditation, and operational oversight for all pharmacy services supporting cancer care. This includes highly specialized areas such as hazardous drug handling, non-sterile and sterile compounding, investigational agents, and gene therapy. The pharmacist ensures compliance with USP <795>, <797>, <800>, Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, FDA, Board of Pharmacy rules, DEA regulations, and institutional policies.
Position Summary
This position promotes a culture of continuous readiness and regulatory excellence within oncology and cellular therapy care settings. The pharmacist maintains advanced expertise in cancer-specific treatment modalities, pharmacy regulatory standards, non-sterile and sterile product preparation, investigational drug services, gene therapy, controlled substance management, and hazardous drug handling.
This role supports strategic initiatives related to gene therapy including onboarding of new products and documentation of critical control points in gene therapy workflows. The pharmacist ensures pharmacy leadership is aligned with evolving FDA expectations for high-risk biologics and advanced therapies.
Additionally, this role contributes to auditing oncology pharmacy services related to accreditation readiness, specialized compounding operations, and controlled substance workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
