Compliance Manager

J&C Tropicals, a well-established and growing national tropical produce distributor is looking for a Compliance Manager who is responsible for managing the Company Compliance Initiatives including but not limited to Food Safety, Sustainability and Traceability programs according to policies and procedures and federal/state requirements. The CM provides leadership, support, and guidance to ensure that all programs are up to governmental standards, food safety guidelines and customer expectations are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

Maintains and improves Corporate Sustainability, Food Safety and Traceability programs, domestic and international.
Food Safety:
– Maintains Food Safety Program and conducts internal audits (Ranch, Harvest Crew, packinghouse, cold storage, cooling facilities, etc.).
– Provides technical training to management, employees, vendors, and client’s facilities regarding the adequacy of food safety program, pest control, operational procedures, personnel practices, record keeping, SOP’s and Sanitation. Plan and execute on-site educational food safety presentations.
– Coordinates and conducts yearly audits to ensure compliance, reporting all issues of observations and, if needed, corrective actions that should be taken. Creates and updates food safety manuals and logs.
Sustainability:
– Develops Corporate Sustainability Plan.
– Work on long term and short-term strategy to reduce carbon footprint with a carbon neutral goal in 3-5 years.
– Maintain customers sustainability audits.
– Educates supply chain partners and makes them part of the corporate strategy.
– Documents and validates targets and improvements on Waste, Climate, Nature & People.
– Maintains J&C Tropicals Traceability program and compliance with government and customer regulations.
– Educates suppliers and develops plans to increase compliance at country of origin.
– Ensures 100% compliance at retail level.
– Reduces in-house operating expenditure.
Provide vendors and partners with assistance in developing compliance strategies and programs according to company required standards.
Maintains and reports status of company and Supply Chain partner programs.
Maintains and publishes global calendar.
This position requires extensive travel.
Prepares and submits compliance plans and operating budgets for the year.
If necessary, the CM travels along the Revenue team and provide any information when necessary.
Lectures or participates in conferences and seminars.
Education, Licenses and/or Experience

Education:
B.S. degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in science or related topic to food safety.
High school diploma, or equivalent, plus 3-5 years food safety experience.
Experience:
3-5 years of packing house, produce warehouse, grower and or retailer experience in a responsible position related to Food Safety and Sustainability.

Be able to organize travel itineraries, make travel arrangements and travel to inspection sites. This position requires extensive travel.
Language Skills

Fluent in both English and Spanish is a plus (read/write/translate).
