Job Description - Compliance Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Driver onboarding and orientation of all safety policy and procedures.

  • Maintain DOT files and ensure proper adherence to DOT and FMSCA standards.

  • Complete road testing for all new CDLA Drivers.

  • Assist in scheduling and conducting all safety trainings for the fleet.

  • Oversee drug and alcohol testing program.

  • Oversee pre/post trip inspections process and complete audits to ensure compliance with the process.

  • Complete accident investigations and recommend training and prevention measures.

  • Administer post-accident ride-along when needed in a timely manner.

  • Train new and seasoned drivers in areas of weakness through constructive feedback.

  • Fill in for CDL training instructor as needed at the Training Center in Paw Paw, MI.

  • Audit HOS/ELD compliance and flagged camera footage from the vision-based safety system.

  • Recommend and assist in administering safety based corrective action to drivers when necessary.

  • Ability to travel as a trainer with Class A Drivers as needed.

  • Assist supervisor with other duties as assigned.




Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Must be able to empathize with employees, address grievances, and mitigate potential issues.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Intermediate computer and technology skills.

  • Team player who demonstrates, initiative, dependability, and reliability.


 


Education and Experience:



  • One year minimum CDLA Driving Experience in all weather conditions preferred.



  • Working knowledge of FMCSA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.


 


Job Location:


This position will primarily report to their home office in Mattawan, MI but will be required at times to report to the Training Center in Paw Paw, MI as well as travel with CDLA drivers as needed.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, and sit for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds when training or traveling with CDLA drivers.
