Concrete Laborer / Finisher / Carpenter

Hawkins Construction is a leading commercial concrete contractor serving the St. Louis region, with an expanding presence in Columbia, MO. We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Concrete Laborers, Finishers, and Carpenters to join our construction team in the Columbia, MO area.

Responsibilities

• Assist the crew with all phases of concrete construction, including site preparation, demolition, forming, carpentry, placement, finishing, and cleanup.


• Build, install, and strip concrete forms for structures such as sidewalks, curbs, walls, foundations, floors, and other concrete structures.


• Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate layout and installation of forms.


• Measure, cut, assemble, and install lumber and other materials used in concrete forming and carpentry.


• Perform concrete carpentry work, including building and setting forms, installing supports and bracing, and ensuring proper alignment and dimensions.


• Place, distribute, level, and finish concrete according to project specifications.


• Perform concrete finishing using appropriate tools and techniques.


• Assist with general labor duties to support efficient job-site operations.


• Use shovels, lutes, rakes, saws, drills, and other hand and power tools as needed.


• Monitor the effects of weather on concrete curing and take necessary precautions.


• Repair and resurface worn or damaged concrete surfaces.


• Meet daily production goals by understanding and performing various aspects of concrete operations.


• Ensure completed work meets job specifications and quality standards.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.


• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, customers, and the public.


• Follow all company and job-site safety requirements, policies, and procedures.


• Perform other duties as directed by the Foreman.

Qualifications & Skills

• 3+ years of concrete or construction experience preferred.


• 5+ years of concrete finishing or concrete carpentry experience preferred.


• Experience building, setting, and stripping concrete forms.


• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and measurements.


• Knowledge of concrete forming, carpentry, and finishing techniques, tools, and safety procedures.


• Experience using hand and power tools commonly used in concrete construction.


• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.


• Class A CDL preferred.


• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.


• Ability to travel to job sites as assigned.


• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
