Position Summary

Avum seeks a skilled and experienced Configuration Management Specialist responsible for managing configuration management (CM) issues related to hardware inventory, documentation, product releases, and software configuration. This position involves collaborating with various teams to ensure compliance with required policies and best practices while maintaining effective communication and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Responsible for configuration management (CM) of systems.
  • Identify configuration items, implements change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
  • Work on teams to create and maintain software, hardware, and documentation configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.).
  • Develop or modify CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.
  • Implement CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of-life.
  • Regulate the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software, licenses, media, and other IT assets.
  • Ensure that all changes to the baselines go through appropriate change boards.
  • Track all problems and changes in product documents/software and report changes, control standard operating procedures and current configurations.
  • Use or recommend automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship with active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required.
  • Ability to be onsite 100% in Chantilly, VA in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
  • 5+ years of experience in CM, preferably in a DoD environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with CM tools and databases such as Git, SVN, Perforce, JIRA, SPIDER, CM Pro, NSERC, and Naval Lift.
  • Knowledge of the DoD ECR and PTRB processes including timelines and development of briefing materials.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile or DevOps.
  • Knowledge of build automation tools, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and deployment processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
