Job Description - Construction Accounting Clerk

Velocity Constructors, Inc. is a Colorado-based, employee-owned general contractor specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure projects. From pump stations to treatment plants, we build systems that keep communities safe and running.

We’re currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to support our accounting team through accurate, timely transactional accounting work. This role is critical to maintaining clean financial records, supporting project teams, and keeping payments flowing smoothly.

🔢 Key Duties & Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Processing

Process daily Accounts Payable (AP) transactions
Process Accounts Receivable (AR) activity, including entering pay applications into SAGE to support Project Managers
Review pay applications to ensure completeness and accuracy before entry
Post AP payments in SAGE
Manage the Accounting inbox and route items appropriately
Prepare and maintain accounting spreadsheets and trackers
Perform paperless indexing and document management
Prepare check run packets and supporting documentation
Assist with transactional accounting support as needed

Vendor & Compliance Support

Set up new vendors and maintain vendor records in SAGE
Collect and manage W-9s and vendor documentation
Process lien waivers and related compliance documentation
Support tax management tasks, including:
- Sales and use tax tracking
- Home-rule municipality exemption letters and documentation

Office & Administrative Support

Administer postage meter
Organize and maintain accounting support documentation
Serve as office notary as needed

Additional Responsibilities

Maintain accuracy and completeness of accounting records
Ensure documentation is audit-ready and properly organized
Communicate effectively with accounting team members and project personnel
Perform additional duties as assigned to support accounting operations

✅ What You Bring:

Prior experience in accounting, accounts payable, or related financial role
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage routine, deadline-driven work independently
Comfortable working in accounting systems and spreadsheets
Professional discretion when handling financial and confidential information
Experience with construction accounting or ERP systems (SAGE preferred) is a plus

💲 Hourly $23-$27 per hour DOE

Full-Time | 30 hours per week to start
