Construction Asphalt Paving Inspector

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about construction? We’re looking for Full-Time Construction Asphalt Paving Inspectors to join our dynamic inspection team at VIAS Infrastructure, a thriving civil engineering firm. As we continue to expand, we need reliable engineering technicians to support and grow our Construction Inspection Team in Durham, North Carolina. Experienced out-of-state Construction Inspectors are encouraged to apply!

What You’ll Do:

• Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules and quantities
• Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation
• Ensure that work is performed safely and in accordance with project plans and specifications

• Support asphalt resurfacing inspection teams in multiple areas, including construction inspection, temperature and thickness measurements, mat compaction and troubleshooting, traffic control monitoring, and material sampling

• High School Diploma (minimum), Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology (preferred).
•  2+ years of asphalt paving construction inspection and testing experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience
•  Possess or the ability to attain the following NCDOT certification within 3 months

• QMS Roadway (Asphalt) Technician certification

•  Ability to compute field data, and read and interpret construction plans
•  Familiarity with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, methods and techniques
•  Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team
•  Ability to perform physical activities required of the inspection procedures including squatting, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing and traversing difficult terrain
•  Valid driver's license and favorable driving record  Good communication and computer skills
