Construction Engineer / Estimator - Infrastructure Projects

We are seeking a Construction Engineer / Estimator in Richardson, TX. This full-time position requires 5+ years of experience in infrastructure construction, with a primary focus on mass grading, wet utilities, and paving projects. The Construction Engineer / Estimator will support preconstruction planning, cost estimating, and field coordination for horizontal construction and site development work rather than vertical home building. This role is based in Richardson and supports commercial and public infrastructure projects across the Richardson, TX area. Candidates must have hands-on experience preparing estimates, analyzing civil plans, and supporting field operations for heavy civil construction.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for infrastructure construction projects in Richardson, TX, including mass grading, wet utilities (water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems), and paving scopes.
• Review civil engineering drawings, utility layouts, and site development plans to identify scope, materials, and production requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for earthwork, underground utility installation, and roadway paving work.
• Develop and maintain project budgets while tracking cost variations throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to ensure estimates align with horizontal infrastructure construction activities rather than vertical residential building.
• Support value engineering efforts to improve cost efficiency across grading, utility, and paving operations.
• Assist with permit documentation, scheduling coordination, and compliance with municipal infrastructure standards in Richardson.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, change orders, and project documentation.

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating or construction engineering within infrastructure or heavy civil construction.
• Direct experience with mass grading, wet utility systems, and paving projects.
• Strong knowledge of earthwork calculations, trenching, pipe installation, and roadway construction methods.
• Proficiency with estimating software and takeoff tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, HCSS, Procore, or similar platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering and site development drawings.
• Familiarity with municipal construction standards and infrastructure regulations in Richardson, TX.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and internal teams.
