Construction Inspector

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Construction Inspectors to support our transportation construction projects in various locations of Virginia which includes Bristol, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Newport News, Suffolk, Surry, Salem, Lynchburg, Staunton, Culpeper & Richmond, VA within the Transportation Operations Division.

• Inspect construction methods, materials, equipment, and adherence to standards and specifications.
  

• Apply state and federal safety, environmental, EEO, and DBE guidelines related to transportation construction.
  

• Perform mathematical calculations including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to make field adjustments to construction plans.
  

• Read, interpret, and analyze roadway, structure, and bridge plans, construction contracts, and other project documents.
  

• Maintain detailed project documentation and prepare reports, forms, and correspondence.
  

• Work independently and provide technical guidance and training to other inspectors.
  

• Communicate effectively with VDOT staff, contractor personnel, and the public.
  

• Operate engineering and testing equipment, computers, and software applications.
  

• Possess a valid driver’s license and safety shoes; obtain required certifications within 12 months of employment.
  

Requirements

• Experience with construction methods, materials, and standards in transportation projects.
  

• Knowledge of safety, environmental, and EEO/DBE regulations.
  

• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and contracts.
  

• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  

• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  

• Ability to work independently and lead other inspectors.
  

• Valid driver’s license and safety shoe compliance required.
