Job Description - Construction Management Lead - U.S. Office Lab Plant

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Construction Management US Office Lab Plant Lead is responsible for leading all construction project delivery across U.S. office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.

This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while driving speed to market, cost efficiency, and consistent execution. The leader oversees the full construction lifecycle—from capital approval through project completion and close-out—ensuring alignment with business priorities and regulatory requirements.

This role reports to the Head of US Office, Lab & Plant Real Estate & Corporate Security.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Construction Project Delivery

  • Lead all construction project delivery for U.S. non-clinic assets, including offices, laboratories, and manufacturing sites.
  • Oversee new builds, relocations, renovations, and tenant improvements, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and enforce construction standards, processes, and governance across the portfolio.
  • Ensure high-quality execution across all projects and asset types.

Speed to Market & Execution Excellence

  • Deliver competitive turnaround times to accelerate project delivery and support business growth.
  • Optimize project timelines by identifying risks early, removing bottlenecks, and improving coordination across stakeholders.
  • Minimize delays across capital approval gates, from Gate 2 approval through construction completion.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery cycle times and execution efficiency.

Cost Management & Financial Discipline

  • Deliver competitive and predictable construction costs across all projects.
  • Partner with Finance and Real Estate teams to align capital budgets, forecasts, and investment priorities.
  • Lead value engineering efforts to optimize cost without compromising quality, safety, or compliance.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, including budget adherence and cost savings.

Governance, Close-Out & Performance Management

  • Own project governance from capital approval through construction completion and close-out.
  • Ensure proper documentation, commissioning, and handoff to Facilities and Operations teams.
  • Establish and track performance metrics, including schedule adherence, cost performance, and delivery quality.
  • Drive accountability across internal teams and external partners.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a team of construction professionals and/or manage external general contractors, project managers, and vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with Design & Space Planning, Transactions, Facilities Management, Corporate Security, and business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a key partner to leadership, ensuring construction delivery aligns with operational priorities and timelines.
  • Partner with the Global Real Estate Center of Excellence (CoE) to align on standards, tools, and best practices.

SUPERVISION:

  • Manages a team of professionals

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED) preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 10–12+ years of experience in construction management and capital project delivery
  • Strong experience across multi-asset environments (offices, laboratories, manufacturing)
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Strong expertise in contractor management, scheduling, and cost control
  • Experience managing capital programs with multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong financial acumen and capital planning experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to drive execution in complex, fast-paced environments
