Construction Manager

Dentologie dental group is seeking a Construction Manager (Chicago based) who thrives in a rapidly growing, dynamic environment.

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic person who wants to help us modernize the physical dental experience to make high-quality care more convenient and more comfortable. As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction projects from start to finish.  This position requires excellent communication and project management skills, thinking on your feet, managing competing deadlines and the ability to function in a start-up environment.  This role will report to the CFO. The selected candidate would need to reside in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

• Collaborate with the Real Estate Committee on site selection, test fits, landlord/tenant scope, and general lease negotiations
• Oversee multiple buildouts simultaneously across various geographic regions and states
• Ensure projects meet clinical requirements, brand standards, and regulatory compliance
• Collaboratively develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and critical path schedules
• Coordinate with permit expeditors to navigate local jurisdictions and keep projects on schedule
• Manage project closeout, punch lists, business licenses, and certificate of occupancy process
• Develop standardized construction templates and procedures
• Conduct value engineering exercises that ensure optimal investment and identify cost savings opportunities 

• Build and maintain relationships with reliable general contractors, architects and design firms and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) contractors in existing and emerging markets
• Implement and uphold vendor bidding process for all projects
• Coordinate with equipment vendors for dental-specific installations
• Ensure proper insurance coverage and bonds are maintained
• Monitor contractor licensing and certification requirements
• Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance
• Implement safety protocols and OSHA requirements
• Manage warranty programs and as-built documentation

• Review and approve architectural drawings and construction documents with all internal and external stakeholders 
• Ensure compliance with landlord, zoning, and inspectors 
• Monitor quality control and timelines throughout construction process
• Oversee specialized dental infrastructure (plumbing, gases, radiation shielding)
• Enact quick and informative adjustments as necessary based upon a full understanding of the impact to project plans, personnel, and budget
• Review and approve change orders and payment applications

• 5+ years construction management experience, healthcare/dental preferred
• Proven track record managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with commercial tenant improvement projects
• Knowledge of healthcare facility codes and regulations
• Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed, up to 50%
