Job Description - Construction Planner

This position is located onsite in Sedro Woolley, Washington State. 


 


POSITION DESCRIPTION


The Construction Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring project schedules to ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget. This role involves planning project timelines, allocating resources, tracking progress, identifying potential delays, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain project objectives. The Construction Planner prepares detailed work schedules, analyzes project data, updates forecasts, and provides regular reports within SAP on project performance.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using project planning software

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to establish project timelines

  • Create work breakdown structures (WBS) and identify critical path activities

  • Monitor project progress and update schedules to reflect actual performance

  • Analyze schedule variances and identify potential delays or risks

  • Recommend corrective actions and recovery plans to keep projects on track

  • Prepare short-term and long-term construction planning forecasts

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to support planning activities

  • Utilize SAP as the central system for managing project schedules, budgets, cost tracking, draw schedules, resource planning, and overall project execution activities

  • Facilitate planning and scheduling meetings with project teams and stakeholders

  • Track project milestones and ensure deadlines are achieved

  • Generate progress reports, schedule updates, and performance metrics for management in SAP

  • Coordinate procurement and delivery schedules for materials and equipment

  • Ensure planning activities comply with project requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards

  • Support cost control efforts by aligning schedules with project budgets

  • Assist with tender planning, project sequencing, and resource loading


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • 5 or more years of experience in Construction Planning in a fast-paced environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management is preferred

  • SAP experience is considered a strong plus

  • PMP and previous ERP experience preferred

  • Equivalent work experience in manufacturing, logistics and production systems

  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the fields' concepts, practices, and procedures; must be able to rely on extensive experience, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).  Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.


 


DETAILED WAGE INFORMATION


Wage range for this role is between $90,000 - $120,000 plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
