The Construction Planner I role you've described seems integral to ensuring the smooth implementation and maintenance of Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks, vital for delivering various services to residential and commercial customers. Here's a breakdown of the key responsibilities:
Construction and Maintenance: Building, repairing, and inspecting HFC networks to provide voice, video, and data services.
Coordination: Liaising with other utilities for permits, joint trench applications, pole usage, and addressing service issues.
Field Engineering: Assessing proposed projects, determining the most cost-effective design for construction, and ensuring alternative routing where necessary.
Customer Implementation: Coordinating all activities related to implementing services for customers, including site assessments, node placements, and managing subcontract labor.
Contractor Management: Overseeing contractor work, obtaining permits, access agreements, and distributing necessary documents. Negotiating and approving design or construction changes.
Planning and Estimation: Estimating construction costs, preparing budgets, tracking expenses, and managing revenue forecasts and material planning.
Serviceability Verification: Verifying serviceability, surveying proposed service routes, estimating material and labor costs, and initiating customer contacts to meet their needs.
Material Management: Ordering materials, coordinating with administrative personnel, verifying and reconciling invoices, and planning fiber allocation for splicing and activation.
Inspection and Reporting: Inspecting construction work, coordinating inspection assignments, releasing addresses as serviceable, and generating reports for project closure.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years of relevant experience. It's an entry-level support role with basic skills required, but it carries some impact at the job or department level. Problem-solving mainly involves routine tasks, with supervision available for non-routine or complex issues. The role demands limited independent judgment, with detailed checks or review by senior colleagues or supervisors.
