My client is a small but rapidly growing construction business specializing in commercial and government projects. My client’s mission is to deliver high-quality construction solutions while maintaining a commitment to excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction. As they expand operations, they are seeking a skilled Construction Project Manager to join their team and contribute to their continued success.  The position will work around the DMV but be based out of their Columbia, MD office.

 

Position Overview:

The Construction Project Manager will oversee all aspects of construction projects from planning to completion. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage budgets, schedules, and resources. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction management and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and subcontractor coordination. Be able to react and understand construction drawings and specifications. 

2. Develop and maintain project timelines and schedules to ensure timely completion of milestones and deliverables.

3. Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles that may arise.

4. Manage project budgets, expenses, and costs, tracking expenditures and implementing cost-saving measures whenever possible.

5. Communicate regularly with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

6. Ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations, and safety standards throughout the construction process.

7. Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and other professionals to ensure project requirements are met and design specifications are followed.

8. Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor construction activities, quality control, and safety procedures.

9. Resolve conflicts or disputes that may arise during the course of the project, maintaining positive relationships with all parties involved.

10. Prepare and present RFIs, project reports, documentation, and presentations to company management, clients, and stakeholders as needed.

 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (preferred).

2. Proven experience in construction project management, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.

3. Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials, as well as building codes and regulations.

4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

5. Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools and technologies.

6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

7. Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome challenges and achieve project objectives.

8. Strong attention to detail and quality control, with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

9. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

10. Qualified candidates shall successfully pass a background check.
