Safety Professional – Northeast Louisiana

D&J Construction Company, a premier highway and civil construction contractor in northeast Louisiana, is seeking a knowledgeable and organized Safety Professional. This role supports our commitment to maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient construction environments on all job sites.

Position Overview:  The Safety Professional is responsible for developing, coordinating, and enforcing safety standards and practices, conducting inspections, and ensuring regulatory compliance on construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate site-specific safety documentation and records.


• Coordinate safety orientations and employee badging for project sites.


• Provide guidance and expertise on safety regulations and procedures.


• Issue, review, and finalize work permits to ensure safe project execution.


• Actively conduct and participate in safety meetings and briefings.


• Perform routine site safety assessments through daily site walks, pre-task plan checks, and employee observations.


• Participate in worker-to-worker safety observations.


• Collaborate with project management to implement integrated safety and work plans.


• Complete additional tasks as assigned by Safety Manager, Supervisors, or Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.


• Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety and health regulations.


• Strong communication and organizational skills.


• Ability to maintain detailed and accurate safety records.


• Prior construction experience preferred but not required.


• Comfortable working outdoors on active construction sites, regularly walking and performing inspections in varying weather conditions.
