Construction Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will carry out all work assigned for construction, renovation, and carpentry repair projects of Frost Valley’s buildings and other program facilities. This position will utilize a team approach, working with the Director of Property to meet facilities and resource management goals. Work will consistently be at a high standard to meet the needs of our guests and the organization as a whole.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Attend to assigned tasks that may include carpentry, drywall, painting and finishing, roofing, windows, doors, hardware installation, plumbing or electrical repairs.
• Assist as necessary with grounds care, including snow and ice removal and sanding.
• Note observations of needed maintenance and conditions that present safety concerns and bring these to the attention of the supervisor.
• Develop and maintain a safe working environment and ensure safe work practices.
• Evaluate current work practices and develop creative, pro-active methods that enhance the services provided.
• Provide an open forum of communication that encourages innovative thinking amongst the staff.
• Attend required staff meetings.
• Promote effective teamwork in a friendly and cooperative work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 21 years of age
• Experience in general maintenance, building and construction
• Able to understand construction plans and specifications
• General knowledge of plumbing and electrical 
• Possess a valid US Driver’s License
• Be able to work well with a team of others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
• Employee may be required to traverse on rough terrain.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
