Now, with bigger projects than ever in a growing backlog, we need someone to help us take our services to another level. The construction technician role plays an increasingly important role in each project, and we need experts in the field. This role involves onsite construction monitoring various construction projects across the state of South Dakota. This position will be in Sioux Falls, Brookings, Vermillion, Mobridge, Aberdeen, or Pierre SD, and will require travel within the State of South Dakota up to a week at a time depending upon job assignment.

• Conduct and document observations of construction progress as it progresses
• Perform civil engineering calculations; prepare engineering plans, designs, and reports
• Conduct or coordinate filed materials sampling and testing
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Collaborate with other field representatives and/or Project Managers
• Serve as a liaison with clients, government and regulatory authorities, and contractors
• Prioritize overall project management and ensure successful project delivery
• Possibility for long-term assignments

Requirements

• Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to interpret construction schedules
• Exhibits professionalism with clients
• Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-year or 4-year degrees in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar disciplines
• Industry certifications
• Understanding of Project Management principles
• Ability to interpret construction schedules
