About the Consumer Loan Center:
The Baker Boyer Consumer Loan Center is a team of professionals who handle consumers’ personal loan requests, from start to finish, with a sense of urgency. With a client-centered approach, we consider the clients’ long-term goals and all aspect of the needs before recommending a single loan product. We partner with the DS Baker Advisors to create a seamless experience for the client. Our team is relied upon to meet the consumer lending needs of the communities we serve.
About the Consumer Loan Advisor role:
As a member of the team, the Advisor will work to provide quality service to clients seeking various consumer loans including one to four family real estate loans, construction loans, secured and unsecured loans and lines of credit. This is a relational position that provides clients with a variety of information pertaining to the products and services available throughout Baker Boyer and then refers the client(s) to the appropriate partner and/or department. This person will have the responsibility of learning all Consumer Loan functions necessary in the Consumer Loan department. There will be opportunity to network and build relationships with customers and participate in Community Events.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Learn and develop daily planning and scheduling routines to achieve high efficiency in the Consumer Loan Center.
- Build partnerships outside the Consumer Loan Center to ensure successful goal attainment bank-wide.
- Work with managers and staff to proactively meet client needs in a responsive, efficient manner, across department lines.
- Partner with staff outside department as a consultant, identifying processing problems and concerns.
- Provide appropriate advice, counseling and solutions to client’s inquiries and problems. Work with co-workers to proactively meet client needs in a responsive efficient manner.
- Earn client loyalty through superior service and responsiveness.
- Create a connection and develop personal rapport with customers; ask questions to learn more about them as individuals and their financial needs without being obtrusive.
- Develop a consumer and residential loan portfolio by assessing the credit needs of clients.
- Engage in the taking of consumer loan applications, interviewing applicants, and requesting further information where necessary.
- Identify client needs and proactively recommend products and services that fill those needs or refer to areas that can help them with these products and services.
- Responsible for retaining and expanding existing client relationships as well as seeking out and developing new business.
- Partner with other Consumer Loan Center employees and DS Baker Advisors to seek and communicate referrals, as well as best meet client needs throughout the loan process.
- Promote loan growth through the development of relationships with realtors and COI’s.
- Identify and recommend products and services to current and prospective clients to best meet client needs.
- Engage in community service activities that will promote the loan officer and Baker Boyer programs and products to current and prospective clients.
- Provide financial guidance to clients and prospective clients.
- Recommend and refer clients to other DS Baker Advisors and Baker Boyer services.
- Assist in training and cross training within department.

Education and Experience
Associate’s degree (or equivalent) or Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. Minimum five years previous lending/banking experience, which could include experience in accounting, bookkeeping, residential lending, consumer lending, business lending or a financial analyst role, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities to do the job. This could include demonstrated experience in a lending capacity to build relationships with referral partners and clients. Must have the ability to obtain NMLS SAFE mortgage loan originator number.
