Job Description - Consumer Loan Servicing Specialist (non-mortgage)

Description

The Loan Servicing Specialist verifies documentation for accuracy and issues tax office checks once documentation is reviewed and verified. Additionally, this position researches title management department issues for various credit union departments and credit union members. This job entails additional responsibilities as needed within the department.

Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Verifies title documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Researches and resolves items related to title documentation and lien perfection.
  • Processes title work to perfect liens on consumer loans.
  • Issues tax office checks.
  • Prepares lien releases on paid loans.
  • Completes letters of guarantee and works with insurance companies for vehicle total loss claims.
  • Processes and works lien guarantees.
  • Posting ancillary product cancellation checks and payoff checks where a 3rd party is paying off the loan.
  • Provides excellent service to members (internal employees and external vendors).
  • Performs quality control reviews through various reports for upper management.
  • Process Loan Modifications. 
  • Post Ancillary Refunds. 
  • Submit GAP Claims.
  • Process Late Fee Reversals. 
  • Credit Life and Disability Claims.
  • Credit Bureau Disputes. 
  • Research loan discrepancies and explain findings to member/employee.
  • Receive Internal/External Calls.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:

  • Entails professional communication skills to maintain relationships when communicating with dealers, internal customers and members.
  • Requires ability to find solutions to problems.
  • Must be extremely accurate in performance of financial transactions.
  • Work involves interpersonal relationships for the purpose of exchanging technical, important or sensitive information where discussion, interpretation and explanation may be required. Tact and diplomacy is required.

Education:

High-school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience and/or training in a professional environment.
  • Proficient data entry skills, Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel).
  • Title Mangement Systens or VINtek experience preferred.

Grade 6
