Job Description - Contact Center Rep

CONTACT CENTER REPRESENTATIVE



South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative providing electric distribution and fiber services. A leader in distribution technology, SCI REMC operates from a modern facility in Martinsville, Indiana, serving seven counties—Morgan, Monroe, Owen, Brown, Johnson, Putnam, and Clay. The cooperative maintains over 3,650 miles of energized lines and 33,905 meters, delivering power to 29,100 members. Our Fiber Division provides high-speed broadband to nearly 12,000 subscribers.


 


We are seeking Contact Center Representatives to join our team. In this role, you will engage with members and subscribers to ensure exceptional customer experiences.

Position Objectives



  • Provide professional, courteous service to promote goodwill between SCI REMC, its electric members, and fiber subscribers.

  • Serve as the first point of contact—by phone, chat, email, fax, or in-person—for inquiries related to SCI REMC and SCI Fiber, addressing questions, billing issues, and concerns with timely, effective solutions.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential consumer records in accordance with approved procedures.

  • Support the Fiber Operations Team as needed.



Qualifications



  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional customer service training preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of three years in a customer service role required. Utility distribution or broadband/ISP experience is a plus.

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong verbal and written communication.

    • Ability to identify customer needs, provide solutions, and promote products/services.

    • Proficiency in contact center systems, CRM, and cash-handling accuracy.

    • Ability to handle challenging conversations professionally and resolve issues promptly.

    • Commitment to teamwork, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to work varied shifts, including early evenings or during outages.
