Continuous Improvement Coordinator

The primary responsibility of this position will be to support manufacturing, maintenance, and quality, complete capital and facility projects and monitor/maintain processes. The goal will be to keep the extrusion lines running continuously and efficiently while producing a product that meets or exceeds our customers’ expectations. Designing, planning and implementing improvements to all aspects of the production processes to continually improve the efficiency of each department.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Comply with Modern-Mill Safety Policies and Procedures  
• Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility 
• Set and Start-up the lab extruder for trials 
• Manage projects both capital and facility 
• Manage budgets and complete timelines 
• Write reports, create graphs, and complete presentations in front of Senior Staff 
• Understand chemical formulations 
• Work unsupervised or with a team environment 
• Examine product for defects and correct them. 
• Measure the product to ensure it is within Modern-Mill Specs. 
• Notify Management/Supervisor/Quality of any quality or equipment issues. 
• Can use software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

• 1 year of manufacturing experience 
• Knowledge of extrusion processes 
• Mechanical aptitude  
• Willingness to work long hours 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

• Degree Preferred 
• 5+ years’ experience in similar role without degree is acceptable 
• Lean Six Sigma  or Six Sigma preferred

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

• Prolong standing or in stationary position  
• Complete repetitive movements such as typing  
• Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable 
• Complete repetitive movements 
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and safety shoe protection) 
• Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds 
• Ability to move or traverse about the facilities  
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders  
• Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
