Control Room Operator Trainee

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Control Room Operator Trainees to support 24/7/365 traffic monitoring and emergency response operations at mountain tunnels and key traffic locations in Virginia which includes Bristol, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Newport News, Suffolk, Surry, Salem, Lynchburg, Staunton, Culpeper & Richmond, VA within the Transportation Operations Division.

• Learn to monitor traffic systems using Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Traffic Management Systems (TMS).
  

• Assist in detecting and responding to traffic incidents and emergencies.
  

• Support the dispatch of Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and provide location assistance to first responders.
  

• Monitor TMS traffic flow and identify incidents.
  

• Coordinate with Virginia State Police and other relevant agencies under guidance.
  

• Participate in training to develop full Control Room Operator competencies.

Requirements

• Interest or experience in traffic operations, emergency response, or related fields preferred.
  

• Ability to learn to operate CCTV, TMS, and other monitoring technologies.
  

• Strong situational awareness, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  

• Willingness to work 24/7 shift schedules as part of training.
  

• Ability to respond quickly and effectively under supervision during incidents.
