Job Description - Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include:

Analyze the customer's requirements to design the optimal wellhead control panel within required timescale
Perform hydraulic circuit design and analysis including pressure and flow calculations
Design and detail hydraulic, pneumatic and electric drawings as required to meet all specifications
Select hydraulic components including manifolds, directional control valves, hydraulic power units, accumulators, switches, junction boxes, pilots and related equipment
Generate instrument, control system and construction engineering documents (such as drawings, Bills of Materials, technical illustrations, manuals, reports and calculations) and layouts for designs, ensuring they are completed within the required timescales
Interface with the operations manager to support an engineering design, BOM specifications, part delivery, and presents status and options as required to maintain budget and delivery schedule
Set up and modify new and existing part numbers in the Engineering Product Lifecycle Management system
Support manufacturing to assess progress, provide technical assistance, final inspection and sign off
Answer product line technical queries from within NOV and external sources
Disposition of engineering related non-conformances, determine root causes, and establish corrective actions
Ensure internal checking and approvals procedures are adhered to
Ensure that client comments are reviewed and responded to in a technically acceptable fashion
Ensure all technical deliverables are in accordance with client requirements
Ensure that Engineering queries are investigated, resolved and documented in a technically acceptable fashion and undertake root cause analysis
To represent the department in both internal and external facing meetings
Requirements include:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Onsite position located in Conroe, Texas.
Minimum of three years' experience in hydraulic and pneumatic control system design from initial design concept through installation and subsequent client support
Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment from a design engineering perspective (within the Energy Industry with hydraulic control panels and API 16D/16ST products is preferred)
Knowledge of international hydraulic standards
Knowledge of hazardous area standards
Knowledge of ISO drafting standards for hydraulic circuits
Detailed knowledge of electro-hydraulic/pneumo-hydraulic interfaces and systems
Project Engineering experience preferred
Knowledge of subsea systems preferred
Experience with shipboard systems preferred
Ability to design systems utilizing AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
Working knowledge of Team Center PLM or equivalent product lifecycle management software
Working knowledge of API 16D/16ST/14B/14C preferred
Understanding of welding processes and procedures preferred
Capable of planning, preparing and execution of startup and commissioning activities for wellhead control systems
