We are seeking a highly skilled and task-oriented Assistant Controller with a strong background in manufacturing cost accounting.. This role is responsible for leading all accounting operations related to our manufacturing business, including inventory control, cost analysis, general accounting operations, budgeting, analysis and reporting. The Assistant Controller will also oversee key finance functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General and Cost Accounting, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across the functions.
Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
Manage and direct cost accounting processes in a manufacturing environment, including cost standard development, variance analysis, and margin performance.
Lead precious metal inventory processing and reconciliation, ensuring precise tracking and strong internal controls.
Review and support precious metal refining operations with financial insight and oversight.
Analyze manufacturing performance and provide actionable insights into operations and executive leadership.
Supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing, vendor/customer communications, and adherence to company policy.
Oversee general accounting, supporting monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP.
Drive accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement across the finance team.
Develop staff through training, mentoring, and performance management.
Prepare and review internal financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs for leadership.
Leverage data analysis tools (Power BI, Excel, etc.) to uncover trends, identify risks, and support decision-making.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and strategic planning processes.
Skills/Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
710+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing industry experience.
Demonstrated experience in managing accounting staff, especially with an outlook towards training, development and retention.
Deep understanding of cost accounting and inventory processes, preferably involving precious metals or other high-value commodity materials.
Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Sage, 4D, or similar) and data analysis tools like Power BI and advanced Excel.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Experience with system integrations and process improvements a plus.
