About the job


This is a full\-time in person role at our HQ in Tamarac, Florida.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead our accounting, financial, and payroll operations. The Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, including financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, internal controls, and payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, payroll management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive process improvements. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data and supporting the organization’s growth and success.


Key Responsibilities:


1.Financial Reporting and Analysis:



  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision\-making by senior management.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.


2.Budgeting and Forecasting:



  • Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with department heads to develop realistic financial plans.

  • Prepare financial forecasts and monitor performance against budgets, providing variance analysis and recommendations.


3.Compliance and Internal Controls:



  • Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided and audit recommendations are implemented.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax filings and reporting requirements.


4.Payroll Management:



  • Oversee the end\-to\-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, and bonuses.

  • Ensure compliance with payroll\-related tax regulations and reporting requirements (e.g., W\-2s, 1099s).

  • Manage payroll systems and vendors, ensuring seamless integration with accounting and HR systems.

  • Address payroll\-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.


5.Team Leadership and Development:



  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting and payroll teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Assign and review the work of accounting and payroll staff, ensuring deadlines are met and work is completed accurately.

  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members.


6.Process Improvement:



  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting and payroll operations.

  • Streamline accounting and payroll processes and systems to improve accuracy and reduce closing timelines.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting and payroll regulations to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.


7.Strategic Financial Planning:



  • Collaborate with the management to develop financial strategies and long\-term financial planning.

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.

  • Assist in evaluating new business opportunities, investments, and cost\-saving initiatives.


Qualifications:


\-Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is strongly preferred.


\-Experience:



  • Minimum of 7\-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3\-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll management.

  • Must have experience in QuickBooks Proficiency other software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Zoho) is a plus

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, payroll regulations, and financial compliance.

  • Excellent analytical, problem\-solving, and decision\-making skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
