Controller

The Role 

You will report directly to the CEO and be fully accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all financial reporting across our five entities. This is a hands-on leadership position—you will manage the accounting function end-to-end, implement strong controls, and deliver clear, actionable financial insights that directly impact our profitability and growth.

What You Will Own 

• Full-cycle accounting: AP/AR, general ledger, payroll, treasury, and month-end close for all entities.


• Preparation and consolidation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (GAAP-compliant).


• Budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost control—especially around manufacturing, inventory, commodities, and transportation expenses.


• Design, documentation, and enforcement of internal controls and accounting policies.


• Coordination of external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.


• Cash flow management, banking relationships, and financing needs.


• Ongoing improvement of accounting systems and processes (ERP experience a plus).


• Leadership of Accounting Team.

What We Require 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent.


• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Controller or equivalent.


• Proven experience with multi-entity consolidation and complex reporting.


• Direct experience in agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, or commodity-driven businesses is a significant advantage.


• Advanced proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) and Excel.


• Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial best practices.


• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial results clearly to non-financial owners.


• Self-starter mentality—you must thrive with autonomy in a rural environment and take full ownership of results.
