Controller

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Controller to oversee the financial operations of multiple operating companies under a growing business platform. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, consistency, and visibility across all entities while supporting leadership with timely reporting, analysis, and controls. The ideal candidate is both detail-oriented and strategic — someone who can manage day-to-day accounting while also building scalable systems, improving processes, and partnering with leadership to drive informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Reporting

• Oversee accounting operations for multiple entities (separate P&Ls, balance sheets, and cash flows)


• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes


• Prepare consolidated and entity-level financial statements


• Maintain consistent accounting policies across all companies


• Oversee job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition where applicable

Controls, Compliance & Accuracy

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures


• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements


• Coordinate with external CPAs on tax filings, audits, and year-end reviews


• Monitor risk areas including cash management, AR/AP, payroll, and intercompany transactions

Cash Flow & Forecasting

• Manage cash flow forecasting across all entities


• Monitor working capital, AR aging, and cash requirements


• Support capital planning, debt tracking, and lender reporting


• Assist ownership in evaluating investments, equipment purchases, and growth initiatives

Systems & Process Improvement

• Oversee accounting systems and integrations (ERP, job cost systems, payroll, etc.)


• Improve close timelines, reporting clarity, and data accuracy


• Standardize financial processes across multiple companies


• Support scaling efforts as new entities or divisions are added

Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage and mentor accounting staff, directly oversee Accounting Managers


• Partner with Operations, Project Managers, and Executive Leadership


• Provide financial insight to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning


• Act as a trusted financial steward for ownership and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance


• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience


• 3+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role


• Experience overseeing
  multiple entities or divisions


• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting


• Proven ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities

Preferred

• CPA or CMA designation


• Experience in construction, restoration, or project-based accounting


• ERP or advanced accounting software experience


• Experience with job costing, WIP, or percentage-of-completion accounting


• Background in scaling or fast-growing organizations
