Help Build the Financial Engine of a Growing Restoration Company

Restoration 1 New Jersey is seeking a highly organized, financially driven Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of our growing restoration and reconstruction business.

This position reports directly to the CEO and works closely with our VP of Operations to ensure every project is profitable, billed accurately, and collected quickly.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and providing financial insight—not just processing transactions.

Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Oversee all accounting operations 
• Manage Accounts Receivable 
• Manage Accounts Payable 
• Bank reconciliations 
• Payroll oversight 
• Month-end close 
• Financial statements 
• Cash flow forecasting 
• Budgeting 
• Tax coordination with CPA 

Job Costing & WIP

• Monitor job profitability 
• Review Work in Progress (WIP) 
• Analyze gross profit by project 
• Track labor efficiency 
• Review change orders 
• Monitor production costs 
• Assist in project billing 
• Improve billing accuracy 

Collections

• Manage collections process 
• Reduce Accounts Receivable aging 
• Monitor customer payment trends 
• Work with Project Managers to resolve billing issues 
• Improve cash flow 

Reporting

Provide weekly executive dashboards including:

• Revenue 
• Gross Profit 
• EBITDA 
• Cash Position 
• WIP 
• Accounts Receivable Aging 
• Collections 
• Job Profitability 
• Budget vs Actual 
• Sales KPIs 

Systems

Experience with:

• QuickBooks Online Advanced 
• Microsoft Excel 
• Job Costing 
• Construction Accounting 
• WIP Reporting 
• Payroll 
• CRM systems 
• Restoration software (preferred)

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years accounting experience 
• Construction or restoration accounting 
• Strong understanding of job costing 
• Financial statement preparation 
• Excellent Excel skills 
• Strong organizational skills 

Preferred

• Restoration industry experience 
• QuickBooks Online Advanced 
• Progress billing 
• Insurance restoration billing 
• Knowledge of Contractor Connection or TPA environments 
• Experience improving accounting processes 

Compensation

• $90,000–$120,000 Salary
