Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000 per year plus annual bonus, based on experience
About the Role
My client is looking for a true business partner to the President, not a back-office finance role. The ideal candidate will bring strategic financial insight, challenge the status quo, and help lead the company through growth and operational improvement. This is a stable company with strong fundamentals and untapped potential, and its leadership needs someone who can look past the numbers, from margin compression to deal analysis, and turn them into recommendations that improve results. A definite path to being CFO for candidates who are truly strategic.
What You’ll Do
Advise the President and ownership on financial, operational, and growth initiatives, including pricing, margin management, and cost control
Evaluate business deals, new site expansions, and yard utilization strategies
Lead monthly and quarterly financial reviews and forecasting discussions
Own all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, and deliver accurate, timely financials to internal stakeholders and to banks for debt compliance
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning, and drive improvements in reporting and operational efficiency
Manage the year-end audit and prepare annual tax packages for the CPA
Manage the full accounting function (AP/AR, GL, payroll, inventory) and build the team’s ability to analyze financial statements, not just prepare them
Lead HR and administrative functions (no formal HR department currently exists)
Work with dispatch and safety personnel to oversee safety protocols across multiple yard operations, and ensure regulatory and operational compliance
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
8+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, in a mid-sized company (25M–250M preferred)
Background in wholesale distribution, agriculture, blending/manufacturing, or a similar supply-chain-heavy industry
Strong financial acumen and the ability to connect data to decisions
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to mentor and challenge the current team
Comfort moving between strategic and hands-on work
Experience managing bank relationships and financial compliance
Excellent communication and business partnering skills
Preferred: CPA and/or MBA; experience with inventory, logistics, or transloading operations; cost accounting knowledge (helpful, not a primary focus)
Benefits
Competitive salary plus annual bonus, health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and other benefits.
