Description:

Air Treatment Corporation, a growing 100% Employee-Owned HVAC&R Manufacturer Representative Firm is seeking a Controller to add to the financial leadership team. The Company has a 40-year history of proven success and profitability in the HVAC&R industry, seeking a detail-oriented strategic minded professional looking for a long-term career opportunity. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and ensure that the Company has a strong internal control environment, that costs are managed, and that cash flow is maximized. This vital role, will oversee our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance while providing insightful analysis to support our organization's financial health and growth.

Requirements:

Management

  • Align with the Company corporate philosophy, goals, and values.
  • Meet and exceed expectations of corporate goals, including profit/loss, schedules, forecasts, budgets, quotas, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with peers/subordinates and be able to work autonomously.
  • Create, implement, and enforce company policies and operational best practices.
  • Responsible for expense control, effective purchasing, and cash management.
  • Create reports summarizing critical projects, problems, achievements, goals, forecasts, business/cost analytics, etc.
  • Supervise Accounting, Credit and Collections, and Accounts Payable team members.
  • Provide payroll support and guidance when necessary.
  • Support company specific initiatives: performance reviews, recruitment, cost management, employee education and training, OSHA awareness, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Monitor compliance with all financial policies and controls and disseminate to all sites.
  • Assist with BOD material preparation and presentations.
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of custom software and process improvements.

Accounting / Finance

  • Liaison with auditors, banks, insurance agent, third party administrators and other professionals
  • Manage and maintain the financial systems, knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, CE, Power BI, and Azure SQL Data Warehouse is a plus.
  • Become familiar with all financial aspects of the company: general ledger, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting, forecasting, inventory, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Supervise month end accounting close and preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Coordinate and maintain monthly commission reports.
  • Run month end percentage of completion report and perform analytics.
  • Prepare and update monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Perform and monitor financial and sales analytics of the Company.
  • Partner with territory and division managers to achieve timely review and analysis of financials.
  • Prepare documentation for various audits.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Approve expense reports and refunds to customers.
  • Negotiate annual renewal of applicable insurance policies.
  • Approve ACH and wire payments, and collection payments.

100% Employee-Owned Company (ESOP) Retirement Plan / 401k Plan

  • Support the ESOP Committee Chairperson and manage the administration of the ESOP.
  • Coordinate with ESOP auditors, TPA, valuation firm, lawyer, and trustee.
  • Manage the ESOP audit, Form 5500 preparation, and annual distributions.
  • Review and upload 401k contributions, loan payments, and verify employee changes.
  • prove employee distributions, employee loans, and QDRO requests.
  • Function as retirement Plan Administrator and coordinate with Transamerica team.
  • Work with 401k TPA, assist with 401k audit and Form 5500 preparation.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant major.
  • 3-5 years public accounting firm experience – CPA highly desired
  • Ten or more years demonstrated success and related experience with a company generating at least $100 million in annual revenues.
  • Experience collaborating directly with auditors, external advisors, lawyers, bankers, and Board of Directors.
  • HVAC or similar industry experience – highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
