Controller - Consultant - Urgent Role

NOW CFO is seeking a skilled Controller to join our consulting team in Sacramento.

In this role, you'll be tasked with overseeing our client's financial and accounting operations, focusing on hands-on controller-level responsibilities. This involves reviewing and managing quarterly and annual budgets and handling detailed accounting transactions. Your day-to-day duties will include a range of tasks depending on our clients' size and needs, mainly focusing on in-depth involvement in financial operations.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong experience in managing financial risks. Your primary objectives will be ensuring accounting compliance, enhancing profitability and reducing risks. This position is well-suited for professionals who excel in operational financial management and have a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial and accounting activities, taking an active role in hands-on controller tasks as necessary.
• Implement controls and budgets to minimize risk and improve investment returns.
• Handle all aspects of accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition, focusing on complex and significant tasks.
• Participate in and support the month-end and year-end close process.
• Develop and uphold a standardized system of accounting records and methods, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct internal audits for a thorough financial analysis.
• Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations, focusing on key compliance areas.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, focusing on the operational elements of financial management.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Accounting or Finance (BS/BA/MBA).
• Significant experience in accounting management, primarily in a Controller role.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong leadership skills, capable of operating effectively at an operational level.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Highly attentive to details, with a commitment to precision in all work aspects.
• CPA (Preferred but not required).
• Experience in public accounting (Preferred but not required).
