Controller (Freight & Logistics Company) - Join a Market Leader

We are seeking a full-time Controller to become a member of our client's team in Torrance, CA! This position will take ownership of financial accounting, analysis, and budgeting of transportation and logistics, freight in, freight out, and structuring financial forecasting in support of departmental initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as client’s trusted advisor, demonstrates knowledge of industry trends, identify client issues and conflicts; proactively communicate solution options to client and team
• Prepare engagement deliverables (such as financial statements, technical accounting memos, account reconciliations and other work papers); assist engagement review team to ensure quality control standards are met; ensure on time delivery and on budget
• Demonstrate proficient technical skills for handling all client responsibilities, including knowledge of trends, industries, alternatives, etc.
• Understand the client’s organization, procedures and internal policies
• Participate in client meetings, presentations and proposal development
• Manage and retain multiple client relationships, engagements and special projects
• Responsible for billing and realization on assigned clients
• Supervise, train and mentor staff; listen and communicate effectively within or leading a team
• Foster a team environment; demonstrates support of management and decisions and build a positive culture
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
• Minimum of 10 years experience in progressive accounting roles, both within public accounting-audit and corporate roles preferred
• Active CPA preferred
• Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
• Proficient use of applicable technology
