Job Title: Controller / Senior Accountant

Our client, a dynamic and growing manufacturing company, is seeking a hands-on, self-directed Controller/Senior Accountant to lead financial operations and support strategic decision-making across diverse lines of business, including manufacturing, service, and product resale. 

This position plays a central role in managing both day-to-day accounting functions and higher-level financial oversight with a focus on cost accounting and job costing, while also supporting human resources administration. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a blue-collar, small business environment and can operate with a high degree of autonomy. 

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping Operations

• Manage daily accounting tasks, including: 

• Supervision of A/P and A/R 

• Bi-weekly payroll coordination with third-party processor 

• Job costing for manufacturing, service, and resale activities across multiple revenue streams 

• Bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance 

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes 

• Support the annual physical inventory process and accurate inventory costing 

• Ensure compliance with tax reporting and regulatory requirements 

• Maintain and update accounting systems and processes (Global Shop ERP experience a plus)
  

Financial Oversight & Strategic Support

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, job margin reports, and cash flow insights 

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities in collaboration with leadership 

• Identify financial trends and provide data-driven recommendations to support company growth 

• Support data analysis related to job profitability, production efficiency, and sales margins across the company’s manufacturing, service, and retail operations 

• Assist in audit preparation and maintain clean, accurate financial records for external review
  

Human Resources Oversight

• Coordinate hiring and onboarding processes 

• Administer benefits programs and maintain
  accurate employee records 

• Support compliance with employment laws and workplace policies 

• Assist in managing the safety program to help control insurance costs
  

Operational Flexibility in a Small Business Environment

• Jump in to support projects or tasks outside traditional accounting and HR as needed 

• Collaborate with shop floor and front office staff in a team-oriented, hands-on work culture 

• Help improve systems and workflows across departments 

Ideal Candidate Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience 

• 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment 

• Strong background in job costing, cost accounting, and data analysis 

• Experience supporting multiple revenue models (manufacturing, service, retail/resale) is a plus 

• Comfortable using accounting software, Excel, and ERP/MRP systems (Global Shop preferred) 

• Experience working with third-party payroll providers and handling payroll inputs 

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and self-direct without daily oversight 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with blue-collar teams and leadership alike

• Monday–Friday 

• 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM  

• This is an on-site position with no remote work option.
