Job Description - Controls Engineer

Eaton\u2019s Electrical Division is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Waukesha, WI facility.(Relocation offered)\n\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. \n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust testing and assembly processes. The Controls Engineer will actively participate and support the design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, and troubleshooting of production equipment and programs. \n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\n * Provide guidelines for the design and selection of test equipment, Developing testing protocols, test data collection programs and best practices.\n * Support, service, and trouble shoot controls for production equipment, test equipment, and electrical systems within the plant.\n * Develop test equipment specifications ensuring compliance with electrical safe work practices and OSHA requirements. Identify and remediate potential safety hazards.\n * Developing interfaces between SQL databases and production systems.\n * Enforce safety expectations, document, and communicate hazards and unsafe conditions to ensure a zero-incident culture and product conformance to electrical safety and quality standards.\n * Collaborate with manufacturing, MESH, manufacturing engineering, quality, product design engineering, suppliers, and customers as needed.\n * Performs root cause and failure analysis, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills. \n * Guide the capital equipment selection process and develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CARS) for new products or process initiatives. \n * Actively participate in assessment processes within the manufacturing environment, potentially as a category lead or champion. \n * Lead/co-lead cost-out initiatives and promotes culture of continuous improvement. Collaborates cross functionally using Lean and Six Sigma tools to solve manufacturing problems.\n * Leverages advanced technology to improve the effectiveness of information systems for controls.\n * Seeks opportunities to eliminate waste associated with the flow of factory floor test information. Leads/co-leads projects, develop goals, budgets, and work breakdown structures. \n * Execute sustained change management within manufacturing operations, utilizing change management techniques such as ADKAR to drive and sustain improvements. \n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS Required: \n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. \n\u2022 Minimum of five (5) years of Controls/Test engineering experience. \n\u2022 Experience with various programming software including Visual Basic/Studio, SQL, and other Microsoft applications. \n\u2022 Experience with Rockwell Software (RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, FactoryTalk SE). \n\u2022 Experience with PLC and HMI programming, and an understanding of safety systems design. \n\u2022 Relocation benefits are being offered for this position. \n\u2022 Only candidates that currently reside or willing to relocate within 50 miles of Waukesha, WI will be considered. \n\u2022 Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS \n\u2022 Experience in electrical testing procedures and protocols. \n\u2022 Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels. \n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to interpret regulation and standards, and implementing Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E. \n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to interpret and trouble shoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams. \n\u2022 Experience supporting Engineered to Order (ETO) manufacturing plant. \n\u2022 Project management experience (PROLaunch). \n\u2022 GB (green belt) or BB (black belt) certified. \n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment. \n\u2022 Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues. \n\u2022 Ability to interpret, suggest and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors.\n\n## Skills:\n\n\u2022Daily support with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand.\n\n\u2022Developing Ignition (SCADA). \n\n\u2022Daily support with PLC and HMI programming, and an understanding of safety systems design.\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
