As a Controls Engineer, you will be pivotal in the design, programming, and implementation of control systems for industrial automation projects. You will develop customized control solutions to meet client-specific requirements and objectives, ensuring operational excellence and enhanced productivity throughout the system's lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and clients to define requirements and specifications for industrial automation systems.
- Design and develop control system architectures, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) programming, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) configuration, and industrial networking.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts for control system installations.
- Program PLCs and HMIs using industry-standard software platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation) to establish control logic and user interfaces.
- Configure SCADA systems to monitor real-time data and equipment status, ensuring remote access and control capabilities.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and debugging of control systems to verify functionality, safety, and compliance.
- Work with electrical and mechanical teams to integrate control systems with various industrial components.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during system installation, startup, and commissioning phases.
- Maintain documentation for control system specifications, user manuals, and training materials.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in industrial automation to enhance system design and functionality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in controls engineering within the industrial automation industry.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and HMI development software.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus) and networking technologies.
- In-depth understanding of control system hardware, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial sensors/actuators.
- Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) for schematic and panel layout creation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex control systems.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and technical concept explanation.
