As a Controls Engineering Manager, you will support plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust testing and assembly processes via controls/software. You will be responsible for portions of design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, support and troubleshooting of production test equipment and programs and managing the controls team. In this role, you will: Define guidelines for test equipment design, selection, protocols, and data collection best practices. Support and troubleshoot plant test equipment and electrical systems. Develop test equipment specifications aligned with electrical safety standards and OSHA requirements; identify hazards and recommend remediation. Promote and enforce safety expectations; document and communicate unsafe conditions. Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, EHS/MESH, suppliers, and customers. Perform root‑cause analysis and problem solving; coach others in critical thinking techniques. Lead capital equipment selection and develop/evaluate Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) for testing/controls. Assess manufacturing processes and serve as category lead during assessments. Participate in Continuous Improvement events (Kaizens/BPIs). Apply Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance testing/controls systems. Identify and eliminate waste in test‑information flow; lead cross‑functional projects and manage goals, budgets, and communications. Drive and sustain change management using tools such as ADKAR and the MOC process. Serve as the site responsible person for electrical safety and lead the plant electrical safety efforts. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution Seven (7) years of test/controls engineering experience. Three (3) years of people management experience Three (3) years of experience with PLC, HMI programming and safety systems design. Three (3) years Project Management experience Three (3) years of experience with Rockwell Software (RS and Factory Talk), NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Waukesha, WI. 10+ years test engineering experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering Understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, A3s, etc. Green belt or Black belt certified Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels. Demonstrated ability to interpret regulation and standards, and implementing Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E. Demonstrated ability to interpret and trouble shoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams Experience supporting Engineered to Order (ETO) manufacturing plant. Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment. Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues. Ability to interpret, suggest and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors.
