JOB PURPOSE:

As part of the Energy 1 (E1) team, the Controls Installer will help to install controls systems for high-end custom residential and commercial clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will report to the E1 Controls Manager and will serve as a critical member of the construction team. The Controls Installer will be required to meet all current Federal and State requirements of a licensed electrician, Limited HVAC Technician or at the apprentice level, where applicable.

Specific job duties include:

• At the direction of the Lead, perform regular duties, such as: Install control wires and equipment, bending, cutting, pulling & installing conduit & wire, troubleshooting, testing, trimming outlets, mounting equipment, and maintaining/servicing as needed for new and existing clients.
• Starts and adjusts controls systems and equipment.
• Communicate with job site management including general contractors, other trades and owners.
• Regular use of hand and power tools appropriate for the job.
• Handle a variety of materials required for the job, including loading/unloading/moving.
• Assist with materials planning and procurement.
• Keeping track of job site materials
• Adhering to proper time tracking policies
• Adhere to safety procedures, policies, guidelines, and precautions while ensuring the job site remains tidy and free of safety hazards.
• Read and understand basic blueprints. Update controls drawings to ‘as build’ status.
• Adapt to various types of construction/job site conditions.
• Perform any other project-related tasks that arise on a daily basis.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrate the ability to identify electrical parts & components.
• Utilize a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the electrical industry.
• Possess a basic knowledge, and safe use, of tools and equipment.
• Preferred: 3-5 years electrical-related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: communicate with others both physically present and on the telephone; sit and stand; move, use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects over 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• The physical environment requires the employee to typically work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow. Additionally, the position may require the employee to perform work at various heights, up to 50' from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas.
• This position will require travel to multiple sites on a regular basis as the need arises.
• This position is located in Bozeman, MT, with responsibilities for additional locations.
